Steve Cross designs and fabricates much of his own equipment based on a working knowledge inherited from 5 generations of sawyers in his family. He renovates and reconfigures used equipment bringing this wealth of knowledge and experience to his sawmill equipment and custom made mechanical wonders.

At the heart of the Cross Sawmill operation is the Super Ax custom designed saw head

The Cross Super Ax custom designed thin-kerf sawmill is the largest in the world, cutting 60" Diameter with potential for larger adjustments.

102' FRICK TRACK
Logs move along a laser-leveled track.

The cut is ALWAYS in clear view of the saw operator.

The Log moves on the track into the adjustable stationary head - all movement is hydraulically controlled

32" diameter 2" thick steel wheels mounted on semi hubs

Years of experience, observation and consultation with other experts have led to this original design, created to overcome weaknesses found in other saw heads.

NON-MARKING LOG TURNER

Timbers are not marred on corners or sides with a custom designed log turning strap.

The Super AX CUSTOM-DESIGNED saw head and frame prevent blade wobbles.
NO DIVING IN THE CUT!!!

Steve Cross enjoys finding old equipment and refurbishing and remaking things,
recycling as much as possible.
